- Cotyledons elliptical, with rounded tip, more or less petiolate.
- Entire leaves, ovate to triangular, irregularly dentate.
- Height: 30-100 cm (upto 200 cm).
- Stem angular, simple or branched.
- Lower leaves opposed with entire ovate lamina. Next leaves alternate, dentate, carenate, upper face farinose; leaves near inflorescence are lanceolate.
- Flowers small, greenish, grouped in whitish farinose, glomerules in panicle. Carenate sepals persistent on fruit and surrounding it.
- Fruits contain only one leaf sheath.
- Diuretic plant. Triazine resistant populations in France,U.S.A., Austria, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Hungary Sweden, Canada, New Zealand, Italy, Great Britain, Poland and the former Yugoslavia.
