- Cotyledons elliptic with a truncate top, more or less stalked.
- Leaves entire, ovate or triangular, irregularly dentate.
- Height: 30-100 cm.
- Stem grooved, striped with white and green, generally branched, with spreading branches.
- Leaves: the lower opposite, the later alternate. Leaves light-green above and whitish beneath. Leaves of the middle more or less rhomboid, irregularly dentate, frequently 3- lobed, obtuse or sparsely acuminate at the tip; the upper leaves very glaucous, mealy on the lower side.
- Flowers greenish, small in lax racemes. Keeled-sepals hiding the mature fruit.
- Seeds round (1.3mm), shiny,black and radially striate.
- Rare in crops.
- Risk of confusion with Chenopodium album L., Chenopodium glaucum L., Chenopodium murale L., Chenopodium ficifolium Sm.
