- Cotyledons elliptic with a truncate top, more or less petiolated.
- Leaves entire, ovate or triangular, irregularly dentate.
- Height: 20-60 cm (sometimes 100 cm).
- Stem generally branched and angular.
- Leaves : the lowers opposite and the later alternate. Young leaves mealy on the lower side, the older ones green and shiny above; unequal teeth on the margin: 20 or more.
- Flowers greenish, small, in lax raceme. Inflorescence completely foliate, at less in the upper part; sepals a bit keeled on the back and hidding the fruit.
- Seeds black strongly keel -margined, shiny 1-1.2 mm in diameter.
- Plant with vermifugal properties.
- Risk of confusion with Chenopodium album L., Chenopodium glaucum L., Chenopodium opulifolium Schrader ex KZ., Chenopodium ficifolium Sm.
