- Cotyledons elongated spoon shaped.

- Entire leaves, deeply indented.

- Height: 10-50 cm. Pubescent.

- Stem simple or branched, erect to ascending.

- Lower leaves in rosette ; dark green, entire pinnatifid leaves. Leaves of the stem attenuated progressively in point at top, entire to dentate and including stem with 2 large points. Adult leaves divided in unequal segments, triangular and dentate (terminal segment more important than lateral segments).

- White or rose flowers, small.

- Triangular indented and flattened 10-15 seeds in each cell.

- Entire plant without roots used for its haemostatic and vasoconstrictor properties.

- - Risk of confusion with: Papaver rhoeas L., Lepidium campestre (L.) R. Br.(seedling stage), Calepina iregularis (Asso.) Thell., Capsella rubella Reuter.

- Biological type: annual.
