- Cotyledons elongate, spoon-shaped.
- Leaves entire, deeply notched.
- Height: 20-50 cm. Plant pubescent, green-greyish.
- Stem stiff often branched near the top, candelabra-like.
- Leaves basal in rosette ; leaves alternate oblong stalked and rounded tip. Cauline leaves amplexicaule with 2 basal lobes more or less acute, dentate. Hairs smooth, grey-green.
- Flowers white, small; pedicels divergent and spread, circa 4 mm long, smooth-haired. Anthers yellow and persistent pistil.
- Fruit : silicula ovate and broad, flattened, winged in its upper part and deeply notched at the apex. Fruit ripe on very spreading pedicels; silicula at the base of the racemes often aborted.
- Plant halophilous.
- Risk of confusion at seedling stage with Capsella bursa-pastoris (L.) Medicus.
