- Lower leaves opposite, later alternate. Leaves stalked, dark-green, hairy, ovate-rounded, dentate or crenate, longer than broad.

- Flowers bright-blue, small, solitary, on axillary pedicels as long as the leaf.

- Fruits nearly reniform, inflated, 4-5 x 3-4 mm, with short crisped hairs, not reticulate, 7-10-seeded.
