- Cotyledons lengthened, spoon-like.
- Leaves palmately divided.
- Height: 20-50 cm. Plant glabrous or pubescent.
- Stem erect branched.
- Lower leaves entire, fan-shaped, deltoid to ovate, toothed near the tip. Later leaves deeply divided with narrow segments, 2-3 times cut at the end, glabrous. Leaves 3-5 lobed each one with linear segments, entire or cut-margined.
- Flowers light-green or yellow, numerous, 5 rounded petals (4-12 mm) and green spreading sepals.
- Fruit flattened, ovate, 6-7 mm long, sides and borders with claws. Small nearly straight beak.
- Plant poisonous. Frequency declining in crops.
- Risk of confusion with Ranunculus muricatus L., Ranunculus sardous Crantz.
