- Cotyledons reniform.
- Leaves entire, rounded, with distal teeth.
- Height: 10-40 cm.
- Stem prostrate or ascending, often branched ; with erect, very short, smooth hairs often glandular above.
- Leaves lower in rosette. Lower cauline leaves opposite, upper alternate, palmately divided with 5-7 lobes, dark-green, smooth-haired on both sides, laciniate, short-pointed and narrow. Petioles variable in length (0.5 to 5 cm). Stipules lanceolate -linear.
- Flowers bright-light-purple, very small, on 2-flowered peduncle. Inflorescence : helix-shaped cyme up to 30 cm long. Sepals near 3.5 mm, acute. Petals with emarginate apex, as long as the sepals.
- Fruit : with a smooth valve, thin appressed hairs, beak with short gandular hairs. Smooth seed without albumen.
- Risk of confusion with Geranium molle L. and Geranium pusillum L.
