- Height: Stem 20-100cm, glabrous, climbing, spreading, slightly angular. Main root up to 100cm or more.

- Leaves ovate, elongate. Upper leaves hastate or sagittate,round-tipped, petiole 2 cm long. Divergent points at the base of the leave.

- Flower white, pink-striated or plain pink, solitary or 2-3 together. Axillary flowers isolated. Calyx glabrous. Corolla shallowly laciniate *, odorous, funnel-shaped. Bracts linear half as long as the pedicel.

- Fruits : capsules ovoid, 2-celled, glabrous, angular with 4 seeds.

- Plant vulnerary,the juice of the stem and leaves is used as a cathartic. The creeping stem entwines and kills the neighbouring plants.

- Risk of confusion with Fallopia convolvulus (at seedling stage), Calystegia sepium (L.).

- Biological type: Perennial with rhizomes.
