- Stem winding, climbing, glabrous, can reach in excess of 500 cm. several branches, between nodes, often red-brown. Lateral branches clustered, short and bulbous, accompanied by one or two adventitious roots.
- Alternated leaves cordate or sagittate. Early development of cotyledonary buds.
- White flowers rarely rose, very tall (4-6 cm), solitary and borne on peduncle more or less long. Calyx partially covered by 2 large cordiform and foliaceous bracts.
- Fruits : glabrous, subglobulous capsules.
- - Risk of confusion with: Fallopia convolvulu (L.) A. Loeve (seedling stage), Convovulus arvensis L.
