- Cotyledons elliptical to ovate, with top in point, sessile.
- Entire leaves, elliptical to ovate, with entire margin.
- Height: 10-30 cm.
- Stem prostrate or ascending, often branched, square, discretely winged.
- Leaves opposed, dotted with black underneath, dark green, ovate elongated, sessile with middle vein streamlined on the lower face of the lamina, accompanied by 2-4 discrete veins.
- Flower blue, bud with fringed corolla.
- Fruits: capsules which half open (pyxide) fixed on the filiform reflected pedicel.
