- Cotyledons elliptic or ovate, acute at the apex, sessile.

- Leaves entire, elliptic or ovate, margins entire.


Adult plant snapshot Adult plant:

- Height: 10-60 cm. Plant very variable, green, glabrous or slightly hairy, weakly scented.

- Stem with erect or diffuse branches, angular, more or less rough and tubercled.

- Leaves: lower ovate, alternate, stiffly hairy, ciliate margin of the blade, dark-green, ovate-elongate, more or less sinuate or dentate.

- Flowers white, small, in umbellate cymes ; calyx glabrescent with rounded lobes ; corolla 6-8 mm, glabrescent, 1 or 2 times longer than the calyx.

- Fruits : small, globose, black, yellow or greenish berries. Fruiting peduncle slightly longer than the pedicels.

- Populations exist which are resistant to triazines in France, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Austria, Romania, Great Britain. This plant is diuretic, narcotic, toxic and noxious for cattle.
