- Cotyledons elliptic or ovate, rounded tip, more or less stalked.

- Leaves entire, lanceolate, more or less dentate.


Adult plant snapshot Adult plant:

- Height: 20-60 cm. Plant hairy, glandular, with a tap-root.

- Stem erect.

- Leaves: lower oblong spatulate, upper leaves lanceolate and ciliate.

- Flowers white above and livid beneath, relatively large, closed, in 1-2 lateral racemes. Petals 2-fid, longer than the calyx. Calyx fruiting, oblong, not constricted, not umbilicate, with 10 green veins and lanceolate teeth. Filaments glabrous.

- Fruit : an oblong capsule, 6-8 times longer than the hairy carpophore.

- Biological type: annual.
