- Cotyledons elliptic or ovate, rounded tip, more or less stalked.
- Leaves entire, lanceolate, more or less dentate.
- Height: 20-70 cm. Plant hairy, glandular.
- Stem erect or ascending, more or less hairy and viscid.
- Leaves lower in rosette, opposite, irregular, oblong -spatulate. Upper leaves linear -acute apex.
- Flowers white or pink, erect-spreading, in 1-2 alternating unequal racemes ; calyx fruiting, ovoid, constricted tip, not navelled, hispid, with 10 simple veins and acute linear teeth ; petals entire or notched; filaments hairy at base.
- Fruit : an ovoid capsule with a very short carpophore.
