Adult plant snapshot Adult plant:

-Stem smooth, branched and with roots at base. Leaves opposed or in whorls (3), filiform (1.5-3 cm x 1 mm), prickly-dentate, vein underneath, sometimes prickly dentate; sheath dentate and ciliate-Flowers unisexual (plant monoecious ), joined by 2 axils, sessile, the male within the perianth, greenish with stamen and the female without perianth, with a uniovicular carpel surmounted by 2 persistent styles.

-Fruits : Achenes of 2-3 mm with longitudinal striations.

-Especially aquatic, immersed, development in tufts.

- Biological type : Annual
