- Leaves with 3 terminal leaflets and 2 as stipules. Upper leaves with 3 acute apex leaflets, lower leaves with rounded tip leaflets.
- Flowers : yellow (rarely red), 1-3 in heads. Calyx -teeth subequal, ciliate, markedly longer than the tube.
- Fruit : pod longer than the calyx, more than 1.5 cm long, straight or nearly straight when ripe,.
