- Cotyledons spatulate.
- Leaves entire, deeply notched.
- Height: 10-50 cm.
- Stems prostrate, glandular hairy and with tufts of long hairs up to 100 cm.
- Leaves alternate, short-stalked, ovate, rounded at base, hairy and usually entire-margined.
- Flowers yellow snap-dragon like, upper lip brown-purple. Corolla lengthened into a long curved spur, 10-15 mm long with a long peduncle usually hairy. Sepals ovate and cordate at the base.
- Fruit : globose capsule. Seeds elliptic, lengthened, brown and reticulate, alveolate, circa 1 mm.
- Plant vulnerary, astringent,discutient, emollient.
- Risk of confusion with Kickxia elatine (L.) Dumort. (which is differented by the floral leaves hastate and glabrous branches ).
