- Cotyledons round-oval, auriculate, emarginate at petiole ; end rounded; petiole with 2 lines of hairs.
- Foliage leaves ovate, with 5-10 large, usually rounded teeth on both sides, softly hairy on both sides, rounded at the base.
- Height 10-50 cm.
- Stem simple or branched, heavily thickened on the nodes, bristly.
- Foliage leaves oblong -ovate, softly hairy on both sides, regularly coarsely dentate.
- Flowers lilac-red, somewhat pale, usually with white or yellow marking, smaller than G. tetrahit (crown 10-15 mm long); middle lobes of the lower lip oblong, at the front distinctly emarginate (bifid ).
