- Cotyledons auriculate.
- Leaves entire, elliptic-ovate, regularly toothed.
- Height: 20-80 cm.
- Stem 4-angled, swollen just below the nodes, stiffly hairy, rough and downward hairs.
- Leaves opposite, pinnately veind. Long-haired petioles. Black-headed glandular hairy. Leaves ovate, lengthened, 30-80 x 15-50 mm, smooth-hairy on both sides, with irregular-toothed margin.
- Flowers crimson, yellow-blotched, small in many-flowered axillary pseudo-whorls. Calyx campanulate spiny-toothed. Corolla pink to blue-purple, white tube 14-20 mm long. Upper lip helmet-shaped, erect. Lower lip 3-lobed, median lobe entire.
- Fruit : 4-achene, ovoid, dull, as broad as long: 3 mm x 2 mm.
