- Inflorescence : umbel surrounded by 5-11 leaves; spikelets multiflorous, 6-13 mm fused heads, scaly floral, distichous, triveinate, greenish; 1 stamen and 3 stigmata.
- Fruits : achenes with 3 sides.
- Risk of confusion with : Cyperus difformis at seedling stage.
