- Cotyledons elliptic or ovate, rounded tip, more or less stalked.
- Leaves entire, lanceolate more or less dentate (elliptic from the 4th leave).
- Height: 35-70cm.
- Stems erect, covered by glandular hairs at the base.
- Lower leaves oblong, sinuate ; the upper ones amplexicaule.
- Flowers yellow in cylindrical, long-stalked head. Involucre elongate hairless of one row of inner bracts narrow and acute, 5 to 6 times longer than the small outer bracts.
- Fruits : achenes 5 mm long, yellowish, 10 slight ribs, as long as the pappus.
- Risk of confusion at seedling stage with Cichorium intybus and the other species of Crepis .
