- Cotyledons elliptical to ovate rounded at tip, more or less petiolate.
- Entire leaves , deeply indented.
- Height: 20-40 cm. Tomentose , whitish.
- Stem erect narrow winged, very branched , with flat branches.
- Leaves tomentose-white or whitish on both faces terminated in point almost spiny. Lower leaves deeply divided , leaves, sessile , almost linear , entire.
- Yellow flowers not glandulous in capitulum , <12 mm wide. Spiky involucre.
- Greyish ripe fruits , without hairs, central achenes , shiny 2-3 mm long without pappus. Marginal achenes with white pappus longer than fruit.
