Seedling:
- Cotyledons elliptical, with rounded tip, more or less petiolate
-Leaves divided, palmate.
- height: 20-60 cm.
- Stem branched, striate, hollowed, erect.
- Lower leaves lighter, triangular in outline, pinnatifid. Cauline leaves alternate without petioles , with large leaf sheath, 2-3 times divided in ovate lanceolate segments.
- Flowers white and small, combined in 5-12 unequal ray umbels. Linear long, bracts of involucre (1-5),deflexed.
- Fruit: achenes 3-4 mm ovate, glabrous, slightly compressed, straw-yellow with brown-red stria. Persistent carpophore on the inflorescence after fruit fall.
- Plant produces faint smell on crushing similar to chevril.
Plant contains butyric and formic acid. Very toxic and narcotic plant.
