Seedling:
- Shoot rolled, cylindrical leaf sheath.
- Leaf blade 20-50 times longer than wide, leaf more or less hairy.
- Membranous, dentate ligule, short auricles.
Adult plant:
- Height: 20-30 cm. Cespitose.
- Hairy leaves, very narrow, flat, slender sharp.
- Inflorescence: spike 4-6 cm long which contain 4-7 spikelets. Each spikelet contain 3-4 pale green florets, slightly glaucous. Oblong glumes not bulbose with 2-3 awns. Shedding at every knot of basal spikelet.
- Risk of confusion at seedling stage with all others species of Aegilops genus.
