Impact of age on the perception of the taste of food. The AUPALESENS survey evaluated the ability of 559 French senior citizens older than 65 years to perceive the «taste» of foods. The good news: 43% of those tested were able to perceive taste and smell almost as well as younger adults. The others taking part in the survey had a reduced sense of taste and/or smell, which was often linked to taking medication or an illness.
