- Cotyledons elliptic or ovate, rounded tip, more or less stalked.

- Leaves entire, elliptic or ovate, regularly dentate.


Adult plant snapshot Adult plant:

- Height: 10-40 cm.

- Stem angular, acute angles, branched, spreading.

- Lower leaves in stout rosette. Upper leaves linear or cut-toothed.

- Flowers whitish in flat and somewhat loose heads; bracts linear, spreading, scarious.

- Fruits convex, subspherical with 5 slightly marked ribs on the back, glabrous, smooth, with 3-5 obscure teeth ; fertile loculus not corky. The two sterile loculi larger than the fertile.

- Biological type: annual.

- Risk of confusion at seedling stage with all the other species of Valerianella .
