- Cotyledons obscure (hypogeal germination).
- Leaves entire, elliptic to ovate, regularly dentate.
- Height: 10-60 cm. Plant pubescent.
- Stem prostrate, branched at base.
- Leaves with 5-10 pairs of leaflets, ovate-elongate or very elongate, obtuse or nearly cut at the apex with a short terminal point. Branched or simple tendril, black-blotched stipules.
- Flowers purple, 16 to 22 mm long, short-peduncled, 2-5 together.
- Fruit : pod with appressed hairs, very flattened, spreading or drooping, yellowish when ripe, 20-25 x 7 mm.
- Good quality as fodder plant; sometimes cultivated in sown meadows.
