- Cotyledons lengthened, spoon-shaped.
- First leaf simple, rounded tip, truncate base conspicuously stalked, later 3-foliolate.
- Height: 10-40 cm. Plant glabrous.
- Stem creeping.
- Leaves with stalks longer than the leaflets ; leaflets as broad as long, cordate, serrate, with moderately prominent veins beneath; stipules whitish, membranous and shortly pointed apex.
- Flowers white numerous in heads erect, roundish, long-stalked; flowers drooping and brownish after flowering.
- Fruit : pod linear, prominent, bossed, without stalk, 3-4-seeded.
- Plant with a good resistance to trampling. Excellent fodder and honey plant. Flowers and seeds expectorant and diuretic; flowers astringent and vulnerary.
- Biological type: perennial with stolons.
- Risk of confusion at seedling stage with all the other species of Trifolium and the species of Oxalis .
