- Cotyledons lengthened, spoon-shaped.

- First leaf simple, later 3-foliolate.


Adult plant snapshot Adult plant:

- Height: 20-40 cm.

- Stem stiff, erect, with spreading hairs.

- Leaves with leaflets all linear, lanceolate -acute; stipules narrow with a free part awl -like.

- Flowers red-purple, large, the upper flowering a long time after the lower, in big terminal heads, solitary and peduncled; calyx hairy with unequal teeth ended by a gland and fascicled hairs; corolla much longer than the calyx.

- Fruits : pods.

- Rare in crops.

- Biological type: annual.

- Risk of confusion at seedling stage with all the other species of Trifolium and the species of Oxalis .
