- Cotyledons lengthened, spoon-shaped.
- First leaf simple, later 3-foliolate.
- Height: 5-40 cm. Plant slightly hairy.
- Stem much-branched, erect, light-green.
- Upper leaves opposite, subsessile. Leaflets (5 to 20 mm) ovate, cuneate at base, obtuse apex, hairy and serrate. Stipules oblong, apex long, lanceolate or subulate.
- Flowers white-pinky in spherical, hispid, solitary, peduncled heads; corolla 7-8 mm, not longer than the calyx. Very numerous forms. Calyx-teeth very long when ripe.
- Fruit : pod.
- Biological type: annual.
- Risk of confusion at seedling stage with all the other species of Trifolium and the species of Oxalis .
