- Cotyledons lengthened, spoon-shaped.
- Leaves entire, ovate or triangular, irregularly dentate.
- Height: 20-40 cm.
- Stem erect, branched with very lengthened spreading and leafless or naked branches.
- Leaves glabrescent or pubescent, toothed, oblong -lanceolate, the lower tapered into a stalk.
- Flowers yellow, inner often brown or reddish. Heads small, terminal or axillary, hollow, subtended by terminal bracts ; involucre of which outer bracts are longer than the inner ones.
- Fruits : outer achenes crowned with small scales ; those of the centre with a 4-5-haired pappus.
