- Cotyledons lengthened, spoon-shaped.
- Leaves entire, ovate or deltoid, irregularly dentate.

- Stem erect, much-branched often near the base, with spreading and diffuse branches.
- Basal leaves in rosette, erect and oblique. Later leaves thin very smooth, glabrous, amplexicaul with 2 very acute apex auricles, pinnatisect, with opposite and ovate segments, lanceolate or nearly linear, tapered at base and sometimes stalked with few spiny teeth.
- Flowers yellow in heads often cottony at base, long stalked in loose corymb.
- Fruits : achenes brown, oblong, attenuate at base, minutely wrinkled.
