- Cotyledons lengthened, spoon-like.

- Flower pink-lilac to purplish, in small terminal heads enclosed in an involucre much longer than the adnate basal bracts. Calyx with 6 deep awl -like teeth, erect, accrescent ; corolla funnel-shaped with a lengthened spreading 4-lobed tube ; 4 prominent stamens.
- Fruits dry obovoid, shortly rough, 2 adnate carpels each one crowned by 3 persistent calyx-teeth.
