- Cotyledons oblong -elliptical, tapered at the base.
- Foliage leaves undivided, ovate, petiolate, coarsly dentate, teeth triangular, usually cobwebby woolly-pubescent.
- Height: 15-50 cm.
- Stem upright, with erect standing branches.
- Foliage leaves with strongly varying form; basal leaves petiolate and dentate, later irregularly lobed to pinnatifid, stem leaves sessile or amplexicaul ; alternate, initially heavily woolly-pubescent on both surfaces, later becoming glabrous.
- Flower : heads yellow, 20-30 mm broad, in contrast to Senecio vulgaris with horizontal spreading, distinctly yellow ray flowers (about 10 mm long and 2 mm broad).
- Fruit rod-like, lengthwise ribbed, yellow to light brown, with silver-white hair and a white pappus.

- Spread: The plant comes presumably from Central-or Southern Russia and has spread
only in the course of last century to Central-Europe; is spreading towards the West and North.
