- Cotyledons lengthened, spoon-like.
- Leaves entire, elliptic or ovate, regularly dentate.
- Height: 50-100 cm. Plant glabrous and pubescent.
- Stem branched in the upper part.
- Leaves glabrous, oblong in outline, deeply-pinnatifid with subequal oblong-lanceolate or crenulate segments; lower leaves stalked and later sessile with clasping auricles.
- Flowers yellow, head 6-10 mm high, in terminal corymb. Involucel with few and short bracts ; involucral bracts brown-tipped.
- Fruits : when ripe involucral bracts are spreading and not reflexed. Achenes pubescent, the outer glabrous.
- Poisonous plant.
- Plant used against diarrhoea, for cataplams and gargles. Good quality of the nectar.
