- Flowers greenish, 2-3 whorled in simple, slender, lax nearly leafless racemes ; lower racemes with a basal bract.
- Fruit with a clavate and recurved fruiting peduncle. Fruiting valves leathery, lanceolate, deltoid, with thick and often hooked teeth on margins (3-5 on each side).
