- Cotyledons very narrow and short (few mm long).
- Leaves entire, lengthened, rounded tip.
- Height: 5-20 cm.
- Stem reddish mostly prostrate, spreading, branched, scarcely simple and erected.
- Leaves (4-8 mm) closed each other along the stems, erect or somewhat spreading, narrow, very acute in their upper part, obscurely bristly, widened and more or less membranous in their lower part.
- Flowers whitish, very small and numerous, almost on the whole length of the stem. Sepals 5, membranous, ovate, lengthened into a small point.
- Fruits very small (1 mm), ovoid, not exceeding the perianth.
- Rare in crops and frequency declining in countries except mediterranean and submediterranean areas.
