- Leaf blade 20-50 times longer than broad, leaf glabrous.

- Stem slender, tuberous at base, longitudinally rolled in the upper part then ascending sometimes only at the tip.

- Lower leaves rolled. Leaves and leaf sheath very narrow, lengthened with an ovate strap. Leaf blade relatively long, flat, 2-4 mm broad.

- Inflorescence : spike 3-12 cm long, cylindric and obtuse. Glumes long-haired on the back.

- Fruit : caryopsis

- Fodder plant, the hay is abundant but late.

- Biological type: Perennial.
