- Stem stiff, erect.

- Leaves amplexicaule, dull blue-green, shorter than the stem; blade very lengthened, narrow, channelled beneath. Leaves not faded during flowering.

- Flowers white in very long loose raceme. Perianth segments with green band on the back, 12-15 mm x 3-4 mm. Long acuminate apex bracts. Style exceeding stamens.

- Fruit : ovoid and 3-furrowed capsule.

- Plant ornamental. Young inflorescences are eaten as asparagus.

- Rare in crops.

- Biological type: perennial with bulbs.
