- Cotyledons absent, hypogeal germination, root -parasite.
- Height: 10-30 cm. Parasite plant devoid of chlorophyll, glandular -hairy.
- Stem light-yellow or blueish, mostly branched.
- Leaves scale -like, small, numerous, circa 1 cm long.
- Flowers light-yellow, blue-purple tinged, in loose spike, early lengthened. Calyx campanulate, short, 4-5-toothed, with 2 basal bracteoles. Corolla 10-20 mm long. Filaments joined to the corolla on 3-5 mm long. Stigma blue-lilac. Bracts half as long as the corolla at base, 1-2 mm broad.
