- Cotyledons elliptic or ovate, rounded tip, more or less stalked.

- Leaves entire, lanceolate, more or less dentate.

- Height: 5-50 cm. Plant hairy-glandular above.

- Stem erect.

- Leaves lower in lax rosette, irregular, obliquely erect, opposite, obovate. Upper leaves lanceolate, ciliate, acute apex.

- Flowers pink above and yellowish beneath, relatively large, in dichasium; calyx fruiting, ovate, 20-25 mm broad, constricted tip, not umbilicate, hairy-glandular, with 10 green veins and awl -like teeth ; petals 2-fid; filaments glabrous.

- Fruit : an ovoid -conical capsule, without septum, 6-8 times longer than the hairy carpophore.

- Rare in crops.

- Biological type: annual.
