- Cotyledons elliptic or ovate, aristate, sessile.

- Leaves entire, lanceolate, more or less dentate.


Adult plant snapshot Adult plant:

- Height: 50-100 cm. Plant hairy, glandular above.

- Stem branched.

- Leaves ovate or ovate-lanceolate, undulate.

- Flowers white rarely pink, large, unisexual (dioecious plant), evening-scented, in dichasium. Calyx oblong becoming swollen-ovoid in the fruit with 3-angled and obtuse teeth. Petals 2-fid, crowned with ovate scales.

- Fruit: a large capsule without carpophore or septum, less than 2 cm long, with 10 teeth more or less erect when the fruit is ripe. Seeds dorsally flattened.

- Biological type: perennial.
