- Cotyledons invisible (hypogeal germination).
- Leaves entire, linear, acute at the apex.
- Height: 30-110 cm. Plant glabrescent.
- Stem slightly angular, slender, glabrous, erect.
- Leaves grass-like, no tendrils, no leaflets, linear, stipules minute.
- Flowers reddish or pink, rather small, 8-10 mm long, solitary or in pair on very slender flowering branches shorter than the leaf. Standard dark-veined, whitish keel 8-9 mm long.
- Fruit : pod very lengthened, more or less hairy, with longitudinal veins yellowish when ripe. Seeds globose more or less angular, warty, rough, dark-spotted.
- Rare in crops.
