- Cotyledons spatulate.
- Leaves entire, deeply notched.
- Height: 10-40 cm. Plant pubescent.
- Stem erect, angular lengthwise, branched, slender, lengthened.
- Leaves more or less hispid, sessile, obovate, somewhat undulate or crenulate on margins. Lower leaves obovate, upper leaves lanceolate -elongate, margin entire or slightly notched.
- Flowers purple with a white tube. Many flowers in leafy more or less spreading corymb. Calyx hairy.
- Fruit : capsule constricted at the tip, 10-15 mm. Seeds elliptic circa 1.5 mm long, shining, brown.
- Plant eaten as green salad. Vulnerary and astringent.
- Risk of confusion with Legousia hybrida (L.) Delarbre.
