- Cotyledons elliptic, clavated tip, more or less stalked.

- Leaves entire, ovate to deltoid, irregularly dentate.


Adult plant snapshot Adult plant:

- Height: 10-40 cm. Plant very variable.

- Stem branched, erect, oblique near the base, tapered into a winged petiole, sparsely leafy.

- Leaves lower in rosette ; lanceolate -oblong, entire, emarginate, toothed, narrowed at the base. Cauline leaves sessile, lanceolate, with an entire or toothed margin, sparcely hairy.

- Flowers yellow in solitary or clustered heads circa 10 mm. Peduncles swollen at the tip, clavated, slightly narrowed beneath the head. Involucre subglobose with glabrous or hispid bracts on one row.

- Fruit : achene more or less globose, often recurved, minutely wrinkled and slightly rugose. Outer fruits ending in a small denticulate cup and inner with a pappus of short hairs at the base.

- Rare in crops.

- Biological type: Annual.
