- Cotyledons elliptic to ovate, rounded tip, more or less stalked.
- Leaves entire, lanceolate, more or less dentate.
- Height: 5-20 cm. Plant glabrous, light-green, with a slender root.
- Stem prostrate and very branched.
- Leaves basal opposite, later alternate. Leaves small, elliptic to lanceolate, sessile ; glabrous or hairy (very short frizzy hairs). Stipules small, ovate, ciliate.
- Flowers greenish less than 1 mm, obscurely peduncled, in axillary racemes. Calyx glabrous.
- Fruit : with seeds circa 0.4 mm, black, shining, ovate, flattened, with tapered margins.
- Plant used as an active diuretic. The plant contains flavonic pigments and coumarine.
- Rare in crops.
