- Cotyledons very narrow and short (few mm long).
- Leaves entire, linear, acuminate.
- Height: 5-30 cm.
- Stem erect, ascending, mostly branched near the base, tomentose (grey or white wooly hairs).
- Leaves lower in rosette. Leaves alternate, lanate on both sides, lanceolate -linear, narrowed below.
- Disk-florets and ray -florets yellowish, tubular, few; heads 2-3 mm broad, in terminal clusters of 3-10, overtopped by the leaves. Involucral bracts in numerous rows, membranous, brown, nearly glabrous, recurved at fruiting.
- Fruit : achene with pappus of deciduous white hairs.
- Plant growing in damp places of fields. Used during the sixteen and the seventeen centuries against dysentery.
