- Shoot folded, leaf sheath flattened.

- Leaf blade 20-50 times longer than broad, leaf glabrous.


Adult plant snapshot Adult plant:

- Height: 40-80 cm.

- Stems erect, robust, with 3-5 leaves.

- Leaves longitudinally tapered into an acute point at the apex, on 2 rows.

- Flowers crimson or pink, 5-10 in lax raceme. Spathe of 2 unequal bracts. Perianth segments with 6 erect, unequal pieces nearly arranged in 2 lips joined in a short tube at the base. Anthers longer than the filaments. Stigmas narrow, regularly tapered until the base.

- Fruit : capsule obovatee, membranous, with 3 rounded angles, subglobose. Seeds not winged.

- Plant perennial with a stout corm, propagates with numerous bulbils produced by the corm. Its tunic is ovate -reticulate fibrous in the upper part. Cultivated as ornamental plant. Protected in Auvergne (decree 30/09/90) and Limousin (decree 01/09/89). [France].
