- Cotyledons reniform.
- Leaves entire, rounded, with distal teeth.
- Height: 10-40 cm. Plant hairy.
- Stem robust, with few appressed hairs, without glands.
- Leaves lower in rosette. Lower cauline leaves opposite, upper alternate, deeply divided nearly to the base, rounded, hairy, with a long hairy stalk, palmately divided in 3-7 lobes lobed in 2-3 secundary lobes. Petioles with dense downwards appressed hairs.
- Flowers purple to crimson, 2 on a very long peduncle. Petals 7-10 mm. Sepals often membranous on the margins, recurved outside. Flowering branches longer than the leaves.
- Fruit long and narrow divided in 5 filiform mericarps. Smooth valve with a beak and sutures somewhat hairy.
- Rare in crops.
