- Cotyledons cordate at the apex.
- Leaves entire, elliptic-ovate, regularly toothed.
- Height: 10-70 cm.
- Stem mostly branched near the base with spreading and dense hairs above.
- Leaves opposite, pinnately divided, 3-angled, big-toothed and hairy on both sides.
- Flowers in heads: disk-florets yellow, tubular, longer than the pappus; ray -florets white, with a short ligule and a tube hidden by the pappus. Heads 6-7 mm, solitary and terminal on glandular hairy pedicels. Involucral bracts on 2 rows, green, and usually with glandular hairs.
- Fruit : achene with an awned scale pappus as long as the 2/3 of the fruit.
- Populations exist which are resistant to triazines in Germany and Netherlands.
- Risk of confusion with Galinsoga parviflora Cav. ( which is differentiated by it's appressed and obscure hairs).
